| The Sunshine Diet |
 |
My brother sent me this card for the holidays. It gave me a good laugh partly because I could just see him coming across this card – and thinking of me. He, along with the rest of my family, certainly watched me try one “miracle diet” after another while growing up.

| The "Magic Pill" |
 |
| Isn’t this what we are all looking for? The magic solution to our health issues? The no-effort solution to all that ails you whether it be excess weight, high cholesterol, low energy, poor sleep, or general aches and pains?
Are you still looking for the no-effort magic solution? If so, I’ve got news for you--there isn’t one. We hear so much about eating healthily, getting regular exercise, fresh air, and plenty or pure water, because these really are the habits that create and maintain good health. These habits support weight loss, provide natural bone strength, they help us sleep well, and they give us good balanced energy levels.
Some people manage to incorporate these health promoting habits easily, while others struggle. For those who struggle, the inability to live up to some ideal standard leads to abandoning the effort. |
| Small, Simple Steps |
 |
Efforts to do better in these areas do not have to be all or nothing. Any small step in the direction of health is better than no step. I say this because I hear all of the time from my current clients that their husband, sister, best friend are thinking about coming to see me, but they are afraid that they will suddenly have to start being perfect with diet and exercise. They are afraid that they will not be able to do this, and so they do nothing and continue to suffer.
When I work with someone in my office, it is not my goal to tell them what they already know - that they should eat more vegetables and get more exercise. My goal is to help them find the leverage point - the small step that they can take today that will begin a cascade of small, simple steps leading to a much better state of health. |
| Specific To You |
 |
Wouldn’t you like to know if there was something specific you could do that would significantly impact your health? The guidelines for exercising more and eating better are general. To be motivated to make changes, we need to know what is specific to us.
This is the kind of information I give my clients in the initial visit. We come up with very specific information about which organs in your body are weak, what is causing the weakness, and what is needed to strengthen that organ.
This information lets us determine which steps will make a significant difference in the state of your health. Knowing that there is something specific you can do--something that will be worth your effort--can give you the needed motivation to take the first step. |
| Upcoming Health Seminars |
I give two free health seminars each month. These are great opportunities to expose friends and family to new ideas and ways of thinking about health. Each seminar is on a specific health topic, and includes general information on exciting diagnostic approaches and natural therapies.

Getting Started Feeling Great |
|
|
Making a New Years resolution to be healthier can sometimes feel like a great big burden. You know that you need to be doing things that you are not, like eating more vegetables, and getting more exercise, but you know from past experience that establishing long-term healthy habits is difficult.
This can leave you feeling heavy about taking steps towards better health rather than excited and enthusiastic. Instead of thinking about what you will do differently, start by thinking about how you want to feel. Then start investigating the choices you make day to day and wheather those choices support how you want to feel.
You may need help in doing this. Find a healthcare practitioner who specializes in the area you are interested in working on, or look for a coach or support group. With the right guidance, the process of achieving your goal can feel as great as reaching the goal itself.
